Suggesting that anybody other than Connor McDavid is the best overall player in the world is simply ludicrous. Knies' comments also imply that McDavid does not play defense which he certainly does. While McDavid's defense is not Selke-level, it is not anything that holds him back.
Is McDavid's defense so terrible that it makes up for a 60+ point gap? Understandably, Knies will always choose his teammate as the best overall player in the world but keeping it unbiased, he is simply incorrect.
