McDavid Under Scrutiny for Concealing Sponsored Content on Social Media

On social media, celebrities often use their important fanbase to get sponsored by brands they like. When they do, they get paid by the brands to make sponsored posts.
On these posts, they must mark them as sponsored, or they could get in trouble.
Connor McDavid made a few posts that raised suspicions.
According to some, he might be promoting products on his Instagram account without declaring them as such. A fan went as far as saying the Oilers' captain should get arrested.

McDavid to Face Consequences for These Undeclared Advertisements?

The Federal Trade Commission Act is clear: McDavid could be breaking the law.
In short, it all goes back to consumer transparency. Consumers have a right to know in an era of digital promotion what is «organic» and promoted because someone genuinely believes in something, or if they are reviewing, sharing, and promoting because they are incentivized to do so. And moreover, it is illegal not to disclose. That's right, it is not just unethical to improperly disclose. It breaks the Federal Trade Commission Act Endorsement Guidelines. Let's be perfectly clear: improper disclosure in influencer advertising and sponsored content is a crime

McDavid could face significant fines for this, if the posts are truly sponsored. However, there's a possibility that he simply love that brand and isn't paid to promote it.
Updates will follow.
