The Edmonton Oilers had a pretty successful season last year, and are sporting a pretty similar roster to what they fielded during their playoff push. That shouldn't stop them, though, from getting some depth.
The Oilers could definitely use some more centre depth, but this could be hard given their cap situation. One option they could explore is signing players to a PTO, which might give them some more time to evaluate while tip-toeing the cap.
Patrick missed the entirety of last season due to injury and only played in 25 games with Vegas the season before that, where he put up 7 points. A PTO would be a low-risk option for the Oilers to take a good look at Patrick and whether or not he is healthy enough to contribute this season.
White, on the other hand, had a more established season last year, netting eight goals and seven assists in 68 games. While it would be harder to convince White to take a PTO deal, he remains unsigned, likely due to his relatively small numbers posted last year. At some point, he will likely be willing to take a PTO deal.
