It's been exactly two weeks since the Edmonton Oilers fired head coach Jay Woodcroft. If anyone thinks he won't be back behind and NHL bench any time soon, one insider says they're wrong.

Jay Woodcroft to be Employed Again Soon

Former Fox Sports Scout Analyst and current podcaster Evan Renaerts says Woodcroft will be employed again before this season ends.
"Coach Jay Woodcroft, who was fired for #Oilers bad start, could land a new job before the trade deadline on a team fighting for a playoff spot this year. Several GM's eyes lit up when he was let go. Also [Gerard] Gallant sitting in wings for a coaching position soon as one opens."

Asked why he thinks this will happen, Renaerts said it's not about what he thinks, and the wheels are already turning.
"It's not what I think actually it's what is being considered. When the move happens you can ask the team that makes the move that very question."

Woodcroft to Find Himself Behind an NHL Bench Again Before this Season in Over

Woodcroft has a ton of coaching experience at both the AHL and NHL levels. However, his coaching stint with the Edmonton Oilers was his first as an NHL bench boss. Like him or not, what's happening with the Edmonton Oilers this season had little to do with Woodcroft, as evidenced by the team's play since he was canned.
