Leon Draisaitl Comments On The Two Youngest Edmonton Oilers
Leon Draisaitl has already started practicing with the Oilers and has been impressed by the youngest players on the team.
The Edmonton Oilers put the league on notice when they began full team captains practice nearly two weeks before official practices.
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl want to win with the Oilers right now and they feel that this is the extra boost they will need heading into next season.
With the entire team practicing, they have seen who is coming in shape and who is ready to fight for a roster spot. Draisaitl said this about the youngest players on the Oilers roster.
What A Step From Broberg And Holloway Would Mean
The Edmonton Oilers took both players early in the first round. Broberg was the 8th pick in the 2019 draft and Holloway was the 14th pick in the 2020 draft.
Right about now, they should both be having big years next year. Defensemen typically take more time to develop than forwards but at this stage of their careers, at 21 and 22 respectively, we could see both break out.
The emergence of Holloway would mean the Oilers would have another option for their top six and a player who could line up with Draisaitl or McDavid.
The emergence of Broberg would do two things for the Oilers. First, it would give them a great player they could use and have as their final defenseman. Secondly, it would greatly improve his trade bait value if the Oilers decided to do that.
It seemed like the Oilers were missing secondary scoring last season during the playoffs but if these two players can break out, we could see the Oilers emerge as true Stanley Cup favorites.
