Spencer Knight missed the playoffs while in the NHL Player Assistance program and has now opened up about why he entered the program.

Why Knight Entered The NHL Player Assistance Program

Back in 2019, the Florida Panthers selected Spencer Knights 13th overall with the hopes of him being their franchise goaltender. He seemed to be on the right trajectory till he entered the NHL Player Assistance program last season for unknown reasons.
In a recent interview with The Hockey News, Knight revealed why he entered the program.
Knight spent the time off working 1-on-1 with an OCD expert and talking to others who manage the disorder in their daily lives. He feels he's much better equipped to live life on life's terms now, and while he faces a time of uncertainty and perhaps a period of adjustment to get back to his level of play, he's at peace with that and is prepared to approach things in a much more healthy way. And he's just 22 years old, meaning he won't have to endure years of suffering in silence. The truth is out in the open now, and Knight doesn't have to hide from anything.

It is quite courageous of Knight to open up as to why he left the NHL and the Panthers at the most pivotal time of the season but it is great to see him getting the help he needs.
Now, Knight will look to return to the Panthers and help them make it back to the Stanley Cup Finals and hopefully win the Stanley Cup this time around.
