Leon Draisaitl has been an incredible star since landing with the Edmonton Oilers, but now, it appears that he could potentially be looking to a future beyond his pairing with Connor McDavid.

Big free agency decision upcoming for Leon Draisaitl

During his time with the Oilers, it's safe to say that Draisaitl has been absolutely everything the team could have hoped for, tallying 787 points in just 672 career games to this point alongside McDavid.
Unfortunately though, the team have failed to go on a deep playoff run, and at 28-years of age, Draisaitl now has to decide whether he wants to spend the rest of his career in Edmonton or move on to greener pastures.

Five big ticket destinations revealed for Draisaitl

While this season still has plenty of time left, some have started looking beyond to his free agency choices, with Oilers reporter Mark Spector linking him to these five destinations.
In his recent article, Mark Spector lists the Vegas Golden Knights, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, New York Islanders and New York Rangers as teams that superstar F Leon Draisaitl could consider if he were to leave the Edmonton Oilers when his current contract is up.

While there isn't any reason to believe Draisaitl is considering leaving Edmonton, Drai stated he was going to do «what's best for him» when his current contract is up, not giving any real answer when he was asked about re-signing.

Spector believes Drai's next contract will be the team he finishes out his career with, as he believes there is almost no chance he signs a short-term deal like Auston Matthews did with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

With McDavid hitting free agency a summer later, their decisions could both change the landscape of the NHL for years to come, but for now, he will be focused on giving the Oilers one more Stanley Cup before a potential departure.
