Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong thus far in 2023-24 for the Edmonton Oilers, and now, it appears they have their eyes set on a goaltender from a fellow Canadian team.
Despite their poor start, if the Oilers can get even average goaltending and defense down the stretch, they have a chance to turn it around, and now, Elliotte Friedman has dropped a bombshell.
According to Friedman, there have been discussions between the Oilers and Montreal Canadiens surrounding goaltender Jake Allen, and given how desperate Edmonton are, they may pay a premium to get him.
While this latest piece has the Oilers zoning in on the Canadiens veteran, there's other names out there that have drawn their interest too, but perhaps none would be as affordable as Allen.
The 33-year old has spent the last four seasons of his career in Montreal, but with contending nowhere in sight, a move here makes sense, and with the Oilers being desperate, the Canadiens could get back a key asset or two to continue their rebuild.
