The Edmonton Oilers made a significant playoff push last season but ultimately fell short of their goal of winning it all. The shortfall has star player Connor McDavid still feeling upset.

McDavid's Response to Playoff Loss

McDavid has felt the disappointment of playoff losses and had this to say about their 2023 run.
"I don't know if you get over it, you just kind of learn from it & use it ... It's great motivation all summer long"

After putting up 20 points in 12 playoff games last year, McDavid has shown he has what it takes to lead his team to the next step. He believes his teammates are doing what it takes as well.
"I want to be better. Leo's pushing to be better & that's where the biggest jumps come from. They come from within."

The Magic Year?

Winning the Stanley Cup is no small feat, and the Oilers are making strides to become the first Canadian team to win it since Montreal in 1993. With the right pieces in play, McDavid and Draisaitl (18 points in 12 playoff games in 2023) are the two to get it done and have proved their capabilities.
Time is not on their side, though. With just 2 years left on Draisaitl's contract, and 3 on McDavid's, the duo will need to make the next step sooner rather than later.
What is certain, though, is that both McDavid and Draisaitl are using past playoff shortcomings as fuel to reach future goals.
