The Edmonton Oilers have had huge expectations placed on them for several seasons now. After another disappointing start to their season Oilers fans are starting to point the blame toward one of their star players.

Oilers Struggle Out Of The Gate

Through 3 games this season, the Oilers only have one win. The team is struggling to defend and then on the other end, they are struggling to score enough to keep up. The Oilers have always been an offense-heavy team centered around Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Evander Kane, and others.
While McDavid and Draisaitl have pulled their weight to start the year the same cannot be said for Evander Kane. Kane is coming off of a major wrist injury which kept him out half of the season last year. Many wondered how he would bounce back after such an intense injury.
Unfortunately for Kane, the results so far are not good. Beyond his play on the ice, the fans are beginning to turn on him and use him as a scapegoat for the team's early struggles.

Fans Frustrated With Kane After Scoring Struggles

In 3 games to begin the year, Evander Kane only has one point which was an assist. Kane has been playing in the top six for the Oilers and was expected to be a major producer, especially in the goals department. His lack of production has brought major disappointment from fans.

If the Oilers continue to struggle changes will surely need to be made. This could include offloading Evander Kane if the backlash from fans becomes loud enough. It seems that the Oilers truly need what they always have which is better defense and goaltending.
Kane has 2 years left on his contract at just over 5 million dollars. If the Oilers can get his production up Kane will likely have very little value and would have to be a salary dump trade. With all this said it is still early in the season and Kane is coming back from injury so it could be a matter of days before he comes back to himself.
