Despite their offensive firepower, the team has struggled to find a consistent final member of their second line, leading to various players being linked as potential top-six additions. Now, a familiar face or two may be coming back to Edmonton.
Jordan Eberle, a fan favorite during his tenure with the Oilers from 2010 to 2017, has since played for the Islanders and the Kraken, earning an All-Star nod in 2022. This year, he has tallied 9 goals and 28 points in 46 games, maintaining a respectable pace of 16 goals and 50 points. With 986 career games under his belt, Eberle would certainly bring veteran leadership to the locker room.
David Perron, with a shorter stint in Edmonton of just 1.5 seasons, helped the Oilers net a first-round pick in the 2015 draft. Despite bouncing around the league and winning a Stanley Cup in 2019, Perron continues to be a top-six forward despite his age. In the current season, he has notched 10 goals and 23 points in 44 games, projecting to an 18-goal and 44-point pace. While no longer in his all-star prime at 35, Perron still possesses the talent to contribute significantly and could potentially make a return to his former franchise.
