We now know who the perfect linemate would be if the Oilers were to make a trade.

The Oilers' Need For A Top Six Winger

The Edmonton Oilers have one of the most high-powered offenses in all of the NHL. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl lead the way as the first and second-line centers.
According to Daily Faceoff, the top six wingers currently consist of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Evander Kane, Zach Hyman, and Connor Brown. While Connor Brown is a fantastic player, he just missed most of last season and nobody knows if he will be able to come in and play on the top six immediately.
Plus, there is always the chance that Brown or any of the other wingers get injured and then the Oilers become even more top-heavy than they are now.

The Perfect Winger

Recently, Ryan Hollingsworth of Flyers Insider was bringing up the best fits for forward Travis Konecny. The number one fit was the Edmonton Oilers and for good reason. Hollingsworth writes the following:
The Oilers have assembled a formidable roster capable of making waves in the Western Conference. By pairing Konecny's talents with their existing strengths, they could gain an edge against formidable opponents like the Los Angeles Kings and the Las Vegas Golden Knights, who eliminated them in the second round last year. Consequently, the Flyers would also reap substantial returns in exchange for a player of his caliber.

Konecny would fit like a glove in the Oiler's top six. A hardnose player who scored 31 goals and 61 points in 60 games on a weak Flyers roster, he would compliment McDavid perfectly both as a finisher and as a playmaker.
He carries a cap hit of $5.5 million, the same amount as Zach Hyman, and would require the Oilers to move out some cap space to make the deal work.
MOCK TRADE
To EDM:
Travis Konecny [$2 million retained] ($3.5 million cap hit)

To PHI:
Warren Foegele ($2.75 million cap hit)
Philip Broberg ($863,333 cap hit)
2024 1st round pick
2026 2nd round pick (upgrades to a 1st if the Oilers win a cup with Konecny)

While this is a hefty price to acquire Konecny, it would give the Oilers the perfect complimentary piece and the ultimate offense.
