The Edmonton Oilers are moving hard to lock up Leon Draisaitl, and now one contract demand of the veteran star has officially been revealed.

After months of speculation, it appears the Edmonton Oilers and Leon Draisaitl are closer to ever on an extension, with recent reports revealing that a seven or eight year deal is on the table for the superstar forward.
Now, the latest update on the situation is a very intriguing one, as a specific demand of Draisaitl has been revealed, with a report suggesting that he is open to a pay cut if the deal is over eight-years, and if both Evan Bouchard and Connor McDavid are open to the same.
Leon Draisaitl has reportedly informed the #Oilers he would be willing to take a pay cut if the others (Bouchard, McDavid) would be willing to do the same, and if he could sign a long-term eight-year deal.

All signs right now point to this being something the Oilers can accommodate, as the organization is very well aware that their best chance to win the Stanley Cup will come with this group, but discussions haven't progressed very far as of right now. If the team can keep this star trio and add pieces around them, they could be a Stanley Cup dynasty for a long time to come, so don't be surprised if a new deal under these terms is reached sometime before the highly anticipated 2024/25 NHL season begins.
