Jeff Marek appears to have been the first domino to fall at Sportsnet, as they have plans to lay off a lot more of their staff over the next few weeks.

Sportsnet fired Marek last week nearly one month after he had suddenly vanished following the NHL entry draft. Fans began to wonder what happened because he never posted once on social media and no one made any announcements. We ended up finally getting clarity on the situation.
Now that Marek is gone, there seems to be chatter going around that Rogers Sportsnet has plans to lay off a ton more of their staff, similar to what Bell Media has been doing with TSN and their other networks recently, where many prominent journalists have been sadly losing their jobs.
Those with deeper ties to Sportsnet firmly believe that Marek's firing has nothing to do with what would be coming from the network.
Despite who is next to fall at Sportsnet, fans are already very disappointed that Marek is gone, as his show 32 Thoughts the Podcast with Elliotte Friedman had one of the highest ratings across the country.
The future does not look bright at Sportsnet or TSN, as too many prominent broadcasters seem to always be removed from positions that fans love to see them in, so those interested in working for those networks may need to think twice.
