Today a new report has confirmed that a major part of the Edmonton Oilers ownership group CEO Jurgen Schreiber is facing a criminal investigation.
The reports have confirmed that the Canadian Revenue Agency is looking into Jurgen Schreiber for a period that he allegedly lived in the Bahamas in 2022. The investigation is to determine whether or not Jurgen Schreiber had reported his transactions during that time.
According to documents, The CRA launched its audit into Schreiber in 2022 to see if he had reported all of his domestic and offshore transactions for the years he claimed to be living in the Bahamas. However, according to the ruling, the CRA has also claimed that there is no admissible evidence showing that [Schreiber] was legally a resident of the Bahamas.
It seems as though Jurgen Schreiber was looking to avoid paying taxes by making himself a citizen living in the Bahamas.
However, now that seems to be coming back to bite him as he is investigated. If there is evidence found that he did dodge paying taxes this could lead to punishment from the Canadian government.
If there are more updates on the situation involving Jurgen Schreiber in the coming days and weeks we will pass them along to you.
