Despite starting his NHL career well, Kailer Yamamoto, former first-round pick of the Edmonton Oilers has struggled in recent years, tallying just 41 points over the past two years with the Oilers and the Seattle Kraken. Unfortunately though, the 25-year old is struggling to find interest in the NHL as a free agent, and it could lead to his departure from North America.
While the easiest move would be to head to the AHL and try and earn his spot back into the NHL, a rule limits AHL squads to just six players with more than 260 professional games played, and it could cost Yamamoto his NHL career.
Thus far, he has played in 303 games, netting 134 points along the way, but if he can't find his way into the AHL, the Washington native be forced to head to Europe to resurrect his career. With weeks to go until training camp, there's always the chance that he can get a PTO and earn his way onto a roster, but at this point in time, all signs point to his shocking departure from the NHL.
