Connor McDavid has been on a bit of a cold streak, at least when it comes to scoring goals. Today he joked about his inability to find the back of the net.

McDavid Jokes About Not Shooting The Puck During Goal Drought

It may be hard to believe, but even the greatest players of all time go through scoring slumps. Connor McDavid is currently experiencing that as he has not recorded a goal in his last nine games. This morning he joked with reporters about not shooting the puck anymore.
"I've decided I'm just going to see how many assists I can get. That's the focus. I'm not going to shoot the puck anymore. I'm not going to score any more goals. No, of course I want to score. I want to produce. I want to help this team any way I can, and scoring goals is part of that."
McDavid's last goal came against Vegas in 1-3 loss on February 6th.

McDavid Still Finding Ways To Contribute During Goal Drought

All of that being said, McDavid hasn't exactly been absent in these games. The Oilers captain has a whooping 21 assists in his last nine games, including a six-assist night against the Detroit Red Wings.
Hence why McDavid joked about trying to get as many assists as he can. However, its not like he stopped trying to score goals. He still has 25 shots on goal over that stretch, he simply has been stonewalled by the goaltenders. This is the longest goal-drought in over two years for the Oilers captain, but you know he won't be held off the score sheet for much longer.
