Oil Country wants him to be locked up long term but even if the deal turns out to be shorter than they'd like and less then what Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs makes, president Jeff Jackson and fans shouldn't worry about Draisaitl wanting to leave Edmonton. There's been no sign that he wants to play anywhere else. He wants to remain Connor McDavid's sidekick.

At 28, Draisaitl's stats are off the charts: 347 goals and 850 points in 719 regular season games, plus 42 goals and 108 points in 74 playoff games. He's a powerhouse, and it's clear he's integral to the Oilers' success and Stanley Cup window.
