While this is undoubtedly a bright spot regarding Evander Kane, it does come at a difficult time professionally for him. He's recovering from a sports hernia that kept him out of part of the Stanley Cup Final, and to make matters worse, he's expected to miss the start of the 2024-25 season thanks to surgery. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Kane could be out for a number of months, with the possibility of a return being delayed until 2025.
To add to his struggles, recently Evander Kane had an unpleasant run-in in Alberta, where he faced a racist incident. A video was reposted by YEGWAVE on X of a cyclist spitting on Kane's vehicle and making the racist remarks, "You people don't belong here."
