There may be a Noah Philp reunion with the Edmonton Oilers. He was a promising prospect who decided to hang up his skates at a young age due to personal reasons.
Yet now, at 25 years-old, Philp might be ready to lace up again and rejoin the Oilers organization. Bob Stauffer dropped the hint, and fans are buzzing with excitement.
Noah Philip could return to the Oilers:
Philp signed with the Oilers as an undrafted prospect and had a solid season with the Bakersfield Condors in 2021-2022.
He tallied 19 goals and 18 assists in 70 gamesGeneral manager Ken Holland offered him a two-year extension, but Philp shifted his focus elsewhere. He wanted to focus on his mental and personal health.
Standing tall at six foot three and weighing 198 lbs, Philp has the size and skill to make an impact. Starting in the WHL with the Kootenay Ice, he later joined the Seattle Thunderbirds, where he had 26 goals and 75 points in 71 games, he caught the attention of the AHL's Stockton Heat for two games on a tryout. Transitioning to Canadian university hockey, he continued to excel, tallying 27 points in 28 games with the University of Alberta Golden Bears. Returning after the COVID-19 hiatus, he made a strong comeback with eight goals in eight games and 14 playoff points.
Stauffer hinted that Philp's comeback could be a story worth watching in the coming year. Maybe we'll see him back in action sooner than we think.
It's an intriguing plot twist. Fans are already imagine Philp back in the blue and orange and lighting it up.
And let's not forget about Edmonton's system. With Philp's potential return, they could get a much-needed boost to their depth chart. His combination of size, skill, and experience could be what the team needs to push them to the next level.
However, there's still plenty of uncertainty surrounding Philp's comeback. He has to shake off the rust and regain his form after being away from the game for so long. He must adjust to the rigors of professional hockey once again. He has to show he has the drive to become a mainstay in the NHL.
Only time will tell, but Noah Philp's potential return to the Oilers has got everyone talking. So keep an eye on him.
