Jeff Jackson said he didn't want to be Edmonton Oilers GM for long despite the tremendous offseason work he did in the immediate aftermath following Kent Holland's departure.

Now he won't have to as the organization have reportedly decided on Mark Hunter as their next General Manager. Stan Bowman is also expected to come on board in an advisory role.
Expect the Oilers to name Mark Hunter as their next GM this week. Stan Bowman still working through his options, but don't be surprised if he comes on as senior advisor to the GM.
Jackson mentioned on the Bob McCowan Podcast earlier this week that the Oilers plan to hire a new GM within the next week and have already started interviews.
Hunter is a well-known figure in hockey, with an impressive resume that includes several years as Director of Player Personnel and Assistant GM for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also owns and operates the London Knights.
Mark Hunter took over the GM position in 2001 for London. 5/7 seasons before Hunter, London finished 15th or worse. After Hunter, 22/22 seasons finishing top 15 including 11 1st place finishes (5 straight to date) and 5 championships.

He's won the Memorial Cup twice.
Bowman has been linked to the Oilers' GM role, but many fans are upset due to his connection to the Chicago Blackhawks' Kyle Beach scandal.
Expect Bowman to land in Edmonton. Mark Hunter might have a significant management role there as well. Time will tell.
While fans don't want baggage in that organization, they'll likely quickly come to terms with it if Bowman alongside Hunter can help the Oilers win a Stanley Cup.
