According to NHL Insider David Pagnotta, Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri may waive his no-trade clause for the right move.
Nazem Kadri has been a major player in the NHL for 15 years. After winning a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche, he has made a name for himself with the Calgary Flames. Despite being 33 years old, the veteran forward played the second-best regular season of his career, recording 75 total points in 82 games.
"Nazem Kadri had an incredible season for the Calgary Flames. The second best of his career putting up 75 points in 82 games.
Despite an impressive season, Kadri has become a key figure in Calgary trade discussions. Though he still has years before his contract with the Flames expires, he has expressed that he would be willing to waive his no-trade clause for the right move.
Report: Kadri "willing to waive" no-move for the RIGHT move...
Though this could be exciting for fans of the player from his former team the Toronto Maple Leafs, NHL Insider of the Fourth Period David Pagnotta suggested that he had his sight set elsewhere. On a recent edition of Hello Hockey, Pagnotta shared that he believed Kadri would likely want to return to Colorado instead.
"Nazem Kadri is out there, the Flames are willing to explore that possibility. He'll be at the tournament, so please don't ask him, and he's got a full no-trade as well, so my understanding with respect to him is that he's willing to waive it for the right situation. I think he would welcome a return to Colorado. I don't think that's in the cards, but we'll see."
While there is no guarantee that Nazem Kadri will be placed on the trade block, Pagnotta's input does make it seem like he could finish his current contract elsewhere. Whether or not the Colorado Avalanche can take it on, however, is another story.
