Edmonton Oilers superstar goaltender Stuart Skinner made the shock announcement that he fired agent J.P. Barry, and has replaced him with Ray Petkau.

Skinner's new agent Ray Petkau made an announcement on his social media account that he had just signed a new client, that being Stuart Skinner. There are only two years remaining on Skinner's contract with the Oilers, and if an agreement is not reached by then, he will become an unrestricted free agent (UFA). Skinner is only making $2.6 million per year, and you can be sure he is going to command a hefty pay raise on his next deal.
We are excited to welcome Stuart Skinner to the Alpha Hockey Inc team!

Many star goalies in the NHL use Petkau for their services. Those goalies include Connor Hellebuyck, Laurent Brossoit, James Reimer, and Eric Comrie. With that many goalie clients, it's no wonder Skinner decided to join forces with that group. The problem for Skinner was that his former agent Barry didn't have a single goalie as a client, so Skinner felt he was in no man's land with that firm. Barry is a well respected agent around the league, and he does have some big name players he represents, such as Matthew Barzal and David "Pasta" Pastrnak.
Stan Bowman recently took over as GM of the Oilers, and he will have a lot of work to do to clean up the mess that former GM Ken Holland left. The team has a ton of superstar players on expiring deals over the next two seasons, such as Leon Draisaitl, Evan Bouchard, and franchise player Connor McDavid. Bowman will be tasked at trying to bring the club back under the salary cap, as they are currently slightly over it.
Stuart Skinner had a decent regular season with the Oilers last season, with a 2.62 GAA and .905 save %. He managed to win 36 of the 59 games he played in. His numbers did improve in the playoffs, where he came within one win of hoisting the Stanley Cup.
