Sportsnet has just laid off Jeff Marek, and now more employees of the network could be at risk, including HNIC host Ron MacLean.

Sportsnet is owned by Rogers Sports and Media, and is the largest network in Canada. After nearly a decade with the company, Sportsnet made the decision to fire one of their most beloved broadcasters, Jeff Marek. The 32 Thoughts the Podcast had one of the highest ratings in the country, but sadly wont be the same anymore.
Now, another prominent broadcaster could find his job at risk of more potential layoffs at Sportsnet, and that's Ron MacLean, who has been a host of Hockey Night in Canada for nearly four decades. Fans seem to want him out.
"Ron Maclean must be one of the cuts or what is the point."
It appears that Ron MacLean is not popular amongst today's generation of fans, as many are calling him outdated. MacLean has two years left on his contract with Rogers, so he may not be going anywhere until then, however Sportsnet can be very unpredictable.
If I were Ron MacLean, regardless of how much tenure he may have, nothing is ever a guarantee with Sportsnet, so it's very possible they cut him even though he's been around since the 1980s. Only time will tell.
