After the game 5 loss against the Edmonton Oilers, Pierre-Luc Dubois was criticized for his underperformance in game 5.

This is what radio host, Martin Lemay, had to say about the situation:
"Pierre-Luc Dubois was pathetic yesterday! He was down on the fourth line, and not once did I see him skate with insistence. I told myself to calm down, that Pierre-Luc Dubois could not have gone from an okay player to what I think of him right now.

Then, he must be injured because otherwise it's a real disgrace.

For real, he was on the fourth line and he might as well not have played, it would have been the same for the Kings... They wouldn't have been worse, I'm putting it on paper."

It is a sad story coming out of Los Angeles as Pierre-Luc Dubois definitely did not have the greatest season. He came off last season(2022-2023) with the Winnipeg Jets with 63 points in 73 games. This past season(2023-2024) Dubois only had 40 points in a full 82 game season.
This is what chrismeaney had to say on X about Dubois' first season with the Los Angeles Kings,
"Pierre-Luc Dubois finished with one goal and four shots in the first round.

Year 1 of his 8-year, $68M contract did not go as planned for the Kings.

He played most of his hockey down the stretch on the 4th line."
This offseason will be a test of the LA Kings and Dubois to come back stronger and to have more of a leadership role offensively. The 25 year old forward still has 7 years left on his contract and will hopefully look to be a more crucial member of the Kings next season where they will look to make another Stanley Cup Playoff run while veteran's, Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty, are still under contract.
