Habs on the Market for a Big Trade?

image

The Montreal Canadiens' financial situation improved when they placed Kirby Dach on the LTIR.
As you know, Dach's season is over. That frees up about $3.3M on the payroll.
The Canadiens have been involved in plenty of trade talks since then, and in order to make a potential big move, they're reportedly looking to offload more money.
To do so, one of the organization's worst contracts is on the block, and two teams are apparently interested.

Two Teams Linked to Armia

Joel Armia has two years left on his $3.4M AAV contract, including the current season.
There aren't many teams that have the necessary cap space to acquire him, but he'd fit well in two organizations: the Blackhawks and the Sharks.
In Chicago, they aren't afraid to take on bad contracts in order to secure future assets. Kent Hughes' trade history shows us that he doesn't sacrifice assets to get rid of players, but it could be different with Armia, especially if the Habs GM considers that he needs the cap space to make a bigger deal elsewhere.
In San Jose, a rebuild is also underway, making the prospect of taking on Armia's contract not so bad.
Do you think Armia will be traded this season?
