Patrik Laine seen showing major frustration during a recent Montreal Canadiens practice

Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine is beginning a new era of his hockey career. This summer he went through the NHLPA Player Assistance Program. After being released from the program Patrik Laine requested a trade away from the Columbus Blue Jackets. Eventually, he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens.

After missing much of last season Patrik Laine is now training to get back on track for the 2024-25 season. During training camp, he has shown excitement for training and even put in extra work before and after team sessions.

Today during practice the media was watching Patrik Laine. During one drill the people in attendance noticed a moment of frustration from the former top 5 pick.

In a video posted on X Patrik Laine can be seen doing a shooting drill with one of the Canadiens on-ice coaches. At one point he missed several shots on an open net an uncharacteristic thing for Patrik Laine. After one miss in particular Patrik Laine took out his frustration by swinging his stick at the glass.

Everyone knew there would be an adjustment period for Patrik Laine to get his timing and elite-level skills back. The Montreal Canadiens are looking to make a playoff push Patrik Laine will be a key piece that they will need to perform well. With the NHL season just a couple of weeks away he seems to be ramping up his expectations. Once the Canadiens make their debut it will be interesting to see what version of Patrik Laine we get.
