The New Jersey Devils are looking to add a former San Jose Sharks forward into their forward group as he tries to rekindle his career after signing a PTO with the club.
It was announced on Sunday that the New Jersey Devils announced the signing of former San Jose Sharks forward Kevin Labanc to a PTO contract.
This is a confirmation from a report earlier on Sunday from Sheng Peng; a writer for San Jose Hockey Now.
Labanc, an 8-year veteran of the league, has had a solid, if unspectacular NHL career so far and is coming off a season marred with injuries. He only suited up in 46 games and scored 2 goals and 7 assists but has enjoyed decent success when he's on the ice. He has 225 points in 478 career games since being drafted in the 6th Round (171st overall) by the Sharks in 2014.
Labanc isn't going too far, as he grew up merely a half hour away from the Devils arena as a kid, and often found himself skating at the Devils practice arena so this homecoming must feel like a dream come true.
It also seems like fans are excited about the prospect of Labanc on their team as well:
Labanc is looking to resurrect his career after a down year marked with injuries and maybe coming home is the missing ingredient for his recipe to success.
