Sidney Crosby's contract extension is almost a done deal. The 3-year contract, worth $10 million per season, is just about finalized, keeping the Pittsburgh Penguins legend around.

On April 28th, 2022, Sidney Crosby was named
@penguins
Team MVP.

Crosby put up 84 points in 69 games, despite dealing with a bad wrist and Covid in the beginning of the season. So many people counted him out.

Crosby told the media «I hope everyone knows how much I love hockey.»
This extension for Crosby by GM Kyle Dubas signals that the team isn't ready to give up on this legendary core just yet. The last thing to iron out is the guaranteed amount and payment each season, but it's clear the 37-year-old will be in black and gold into his 40's.
Crosby deal is close to being finalized. Still comes in at 3x10M AAV. The only holdup is how much is guaranteed and paid out in the beginning. Crosby is going to be in Pittsburgh for a while.
Now, it's possible the core group of Kris Letang, Evgeni Malkin, and Crosby who won consecutive Cups in 2016 and 17 can now go for one last hurrah together.
