The Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks, both trailing behind in the Pacific Division, have been rumored to be discussing a potential trade, though a playoff run for either team seems uncertain.

Possible Trade Scenario Between Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks

Recent rumours suggests that these teams might have been exploring a trade option. Delving deeper into these rumors, an NHL expert has shed light on a potential deal that was eventually cancelled.
According to Seravalli on S&P, the Tyler Myers for SJS Kevin LeBanc trade would have been straight up. But seems like #Canucks scratched that trade for the possibility that if their season goes south, they can trade Myers at the deadline themselves.
Frank Seravalli highlighted that the potential trade would have been a direct swap: Tyler Myers for Kevin LaBanc. But for now, this trade idea has been set aside.

Vancouver's Strategy

The Canucks have possibly withdrawn the deal, keeping in mind that Myers might either help them securing a playoff spot in 2023-24 or be a valuable trade asset at the deadline.
In the previous season, Myers, playing for Vancouver, recorded 1 goal and 18 points in 78 games. Though these stats might appear modest, the defenseman's broader contribution to the game cannot be ignored. Considering recent trade trends, holding onto Myers could be a strategic move by the Canucks.
