Tonight Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper got the elusive head coach penalty for going off on the referees.

Cooper Called For Penalty After Going Berserk On Officials

Early in the second period of their game against the Boston Bruins, the Lightning found themselves down 3-1. After the third goal against Jon Cooper was clearly upset with the referees. After they approached the Tampa Bay bench Cooper went berserk and struck one of the officials in the arm while freaking out.
Cooper was given a two-minute minor but not ejected from the game. Even though the Lightning would go to the penalty kill the actions by their head coach seem to have given the players a spark. The Lightning went from down 3-1 to only down by one 4-3 with one period left to go.
If the Lightning can pull off the comeback Cooper's actions go from a negative turning point to potentially a positive momentum shift for his team.
Regardless of the outcome, it will be interesting to see if Cooper has any additional discipline coming from the NHL in the way of a fine or suspension.
