Toronto has managed to poach a former 2nd round pick and top NCAA prospect from a division rival.
Marlies Sign Mastrosimone
It was just announced by the Toronto Marlies that they signed Robert Mastrosimone to a one-year deal.
We've signed forward Robert Mastrosimone to a one-year AHL contract.
Mastrimone was originally a 2nd round pick of the Detroit Red Wings back in 2019.
He has impressed at the NCAA level leading the Arizona State Sun Devils in scoring this past season with 42 points in 38 games.
He certainly could have gotten an NCAA contract elsewhere so it is clear that he wants Toronto as his home and as his team.
