Toronto Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner could hit free agency next summer, and the Chicago Blackhawks could be one of the teams interested.
With no extension in sight, there's a good chance Marner might end up walking as a free agent on July 1st next year. The 27 year-old will likely command upward of the $10.9 million he currently makes annually.
Our Mitch Marner's next team odds continue to lean in Maple Leafs' favor despite recent reports...

When asked if the Hawks will be more aggressive in free agency next year, the athletic's Mark Lazerus pointed out that GM Kyle Davidson was ready to trade next year's unprotected top pick for a chance to draft Ivan Demidov, who ultimately went to the Montreal Canadiens at five in the NHL draft.
It's mailbag season. @MarkLazerus with the first of two parts on the Blackhawks and other topics:
The fact that Davidson was ready to trade next year's unprotected top pick (almost certainly a top-10 pick) to Columbus for the ability to draft Demidov is as clear a sign as any that the Blackhawks are ready to stop living years in the future.
Marner joining reigning Calder Trophy winner Connor Bedard and former teammate Tyler Bertuzzi here in Chicago would be epic. We'll have to wait and see how it all plays out.
