Despite another stellar regular season campaign, Mitch Marner comes into the 2024/25 campaign under pressure amid trade rumours, looking to have his best regular season yet. Now, according to recent images from off-season training, it appears he may be making a big change, inspired by the likes of Sergei Federov and Wayne Gretzky.
These off-season training videos show Marner rocking a white skate as opposed to the traditional black, and while it may look unorthodox, it may give him the flair and the confidence that he needs to perform at his very best. Despite some great regular seasons, Marner is yet to hit 100 points for the Maple Leafs, but after hitting 99 and 97 in his last two seasons when playing over 70 games, confidence is high.
Whatever happens, there's plenty of pressure on the Maple Leafs coming into a crucial year under new Head Coach Craig Berube, and with the change in leadership and this potential skate change inspiring his confidence, expect a big campaign from No. 16.
