The Toronto Maple Leafs have just received a massive trade offer from the Carolina Hurricanes for superstar forward Mitch Marner.

Trade speculation involving Marner has started to die down recently, however it now appears the Carolina Hurricanes have submitted a major offer to the Maple Leafs to acquire him, and Marner could very well be on his way out of Toronto before the next season begins.
Im told the #Canes have sent a legit offer for #LeafsForever Marner that includes Necas as well as 3rd and 4th rd picks.

CAR actively talking with Necas, despite his displeasure with team and high asking price of 9M. #UtahHC, #Sabres, #FlyTogether, #NHLJets all in contact.
Martin Necas is looking to be paid around $9 million per year on his next deal, and although the Leafs are cash strapped up at the cap, John Tavares is a UFA at the end of next season, which would save the Leafs $11 million per year. It is important to note that Marner does have a No-Trade clause, so he will still have to give his okay to move to Carolina if the Leafs end up agreeing to this trade proposal.
#LeafsForever and Marner extension numbers at this time are pretty huge, looking like 8x13M is the asking price form the Marner camp. At this time Leafs are not happy with that.

#UtahHC #NHLJets #Canes and #Sabres all linked to Marner.

Despite this offer the Leafs received, it is not clear yet how far along both teams are in the process, and whether the Leafs are even happy with the offer. All we know is that an offer has been made, and the ball is now in the Leafs court.
