Things are going downhill fast for the Toronto Maple Leafs in their series against the Boston Bruins. Last night, Auston Matthews couldn't even finish the game as he did not play in the third period.

The Leafs have struggled this series with getting their guys going at 100 percent, and injuries and illnesses have some impact on that. It has been reported that Auston Matthews is playing through an illness, and last night he failed to return to the bench for the third period after intermission.
Maple Leafs F Auston Matthews will not return to tonight's game.
After the game, Sheldon Keefe gave an important update to the media regarding the reason for Matthews' absence in the third period, saying that it was related to the illness he had been dealing with. While this isn't the best news, as he could have been useful in the third, it is better than him being held from playing due to injury.
Sheldon Keefe says Auston Matthews being unable to finish Game 4 "is all related to illness."
Hopefully, Matthews can use the next few days to get back to 100 percent and kick this illness. Now, being down 3-1 in the series, the Leafs will need all the firepower they can muster in order to try and turn the series around.
