Projected first overall pick destroys the Maple Leafs in his latest interview

DuPont is the latest CHL player to receive exceptional status, as the young man has been suiting up for the Everett Silvertips of the WHL as a 15 year old.

In a recent interview, DuPont was asked who he thought would win the Stanley Cup, and his answer will leave Leafs fans very upset.

DuPont is a Leafs fan but it doesn't seem like he has much faith in his favourite team this year, saying that his team was «already out» and that he may have to cheer for the Vancouver Canucks.

It seems that the Leafs lack of playoff success has taken a toll on the talented young man, as he seems ready to pivot his loyalties away from the Leafs, and who can blame him after the failures the Leafs have endured in the playoffs since 2004.

Obviously the Leafs are not out of the running yet, but hearing such a high profile prospect say this about his favourite team may not sit well with Leafs fans.

DuPont recorded his first WHL point, an assist, in a 4-3 loss, and should continue to grow throughout the season, and is projected to be a top pick in his draft class.
