The Leafs are in need of some secondary scoring, and Alex could actually fit in quite nicely in that type of role. Many insiders around the league believe Alex would get paid just under $1 million with whichever team decides to sign him.
Alex began last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and was later traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he put up a solid 11 goals and 15 points in the 23 remaining games of the regular season. That's pretty impressive considering he played on an awful Columbus team. His stats would likely see a further improvement playing with better players on the Leafs.
The Leafs have about $1.2 million in cap space remaining, and William is sure hoping GM Brad Treliving spends it properly, such as signing his little brother.
