Kahkonen had a good season when he was playing with the New Jersey Devils, but unfortunately he was stuck playing with the bottom feeding San Jose Sharks last season, where his numbers really tumbled. He had a horrible 3.71 GAA and an .892 save percentage, so there is nowhere but up from that, and with a much better defensive system in Winnipeg, he should have a very strong bounce back year.
Pionk went through some rough stretches last season, scoring in his own net and having an extended goalless drought, so coming into a contract year, he knows he will want to improve. He has been a 30-point producer from the blue line for five years in a row, and plays key minutes for the Jets on the blue line.
