The deal is similar to others signed by first-round picks, and now, the Kelowna Rockets prospect is one step closer to an NHL debut. In 2023/24, Iginla starred in the WHL, taking a major leap from the year before with 47 goals and 37 assists on the year, and while many hoped he would fall to the Flames at No. 9, he now has a chance to carve out his own history in the NHL.
It's unclear at this point whether he'll head straight back to the Rockets of the WHL for the season or get a trial at the top level, but whatever the case, it's safe to say that hopes are high in Utah, especially after the way fans reacted to the draft pick.
