Ken Sim, mayor of the city of Vancouver, had cancelled all public watch parties for games 3 and 4 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Nashville Predators, fearing riots and security concerns.

The Vancouver riots of 1994, and more recently in 2011, seem to be the catalyst behind the cancellations, as Sim does not want a repeat of these horrendous actions in his city.
While this may disappoint many Vancouver residents, Sim's reasoning behind the cancellations are justified, as the city had massive damages occur after the riots in 2011.

The Stanley Cup Finals loss to the Boston Bruins in 2011 caused an uproar in the city, and Ken Sim is very wise for putting measures in to attempt to deter such behaviour from occurring again.
Game 3 will take place Friday night at Bridgestone arena in Nashville, with the series being tied at 1-1 through the first 2 games, however they have lost starting goalie Thatcher Demko for the foreseeable future.
