Mark Stone's wife under fire for a suspicious photo with fan

The Las Vegas Golden Knights have developed a reputation as a dirty team for taking advantage of the long-term injured reserve to get a leg up in the playoffs. Captain Mark Stone has been the primary subject of these accusations, having been pulled off LTIR for the playoffs the last three years.

However, these allegations have ramped up considerably after Mark Stone's wife Haley Thompson was captured in a suspicious photo. She was posing with a Las Vegas fan who was wearing a jersey with the player's number, but the name was replaced with "LTIR."

Unsurprisingly, NHL fans are divided on the photo. Golden Knights fans have cheered this picture on for its humor and acknowledgment of Vegas's playoff strategy.

Alternatively, those rooting for Dallas in their playoff series see this picture in a different light. For them, this is nothing more than the admission and approval of cheating.

Yet, it should go without saying that Mark Stone and his wife have nothing to do personally with the team's use of LTIR. Many fans point this out and call for a change to the rules from NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to prevent teams from misusing this system.

Whether or not you believe the team's use of LTIR loopholes, Mark Stone will remain in this season's playoffs. They will play the fifth round of their first-round series against the Dallas Stars tomorrow evening. If NHL fans want to prevent the Golden Knights and other teams from taking advantage of these rules, they will have to make their voices too loud to ignore.
