The NHL made the following announcement:
"NEW YORK/TORONTO (Jan. 28, 2024) The National Hockey League Players' Association and National Hockey League announced today that forward Patrik Laine of the Columbus Blue Jackets will be unavailable to his Club for an indefinite period while he receives care from the Player Assistance Program of the NHLPA and NHL.

Under the terms of the joint program, he will return to the Club when cleared for on-ice competition by the program administrators."
Laine had a rough season this year, tallying eight points in 17 games while dealing with major injuries.
He faced another setback lately:
"Laine is heading back to Columbus after suffering a setback in his attempt to return from a collarbone injury, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports Saturday. He will miss the Blue Jackets' final three games before the All-Star break.

Laine hasn't been in the lineup since Dec. 14 due to the injury. He has six goals and nine points in 18 contests this season. When Laine's available, the 25-year-old should play in a middle-six capacity and receive a power-play role."

We wish him the best going forward.
More to come.
