Winnipeg Jets prospect Elias Salomonsson was suspended for a play he made early in yesterday's game against Latvia.
Salomonsson Suspended For Hit Versus Latvia
Just 25 seconds into Sweden's WJC opener, top defenseman Elias Salomonsson boarded a Latvian forward which resulted in him getting ejected from the game, effectively missing the opening game.
Today, the IIHF reached a verdict on if they would punish Salomonsson even further.
The 2024 #WorldJuniors Disciplinary Panel has issued a one game suspension to Elias Salomonsson (Sweden, #3) for violating Official Playing Rule 43 against Emils Veckaktins (Latvia, #10).
Salomonsson will now have to miss out on Sweden's game against Germany tomorrow but will hopefully be able to return after.
He was a 2nd round draft pick of the Jets back in 2022 and he has risen through the ranks proving to be an elite talent and a potential top pairing guy for the Jets.
