Team USA has named their leadership group ahead of the World Junior Tournament that starts on December 26th, and this Jets prospect will be their captain.

McGroarty Named Captain of USA World Junior Team

The Winnipeg Jets' future is looking bright, as their 2022 first-rounder (14th overall) is turning out to be a star. Rutger McGroarty, who currently plays for the University of Michigan, was just named Captain of the USA's World Junior Team.

McGroarty has appeared in 13 games this season for the Wolverines, scoring 6 goals and 12 assists for 18 points. McGroarty was previously injured this year, but will still be able to compete with USA.

Team USA Currently Favourite to Win World Junior Tournament

Team USA is currently the favourite to win the World Juniors, with a stacked roster full of NHL draft picks. Their current roster makeup shows just how skilled college hockey has become in the USA.
For Jets fans, this is a great confirmation both that McGroarty is healthy, and they will get to see him shine over the holidays.
