The Colorado Avalanche recently traded Tomas Tatar to the Seattle Kraken, and with a glaring hole in their forward group, they have now been connected to the Calgary Flames and one of their biggest stars.

Elias Lindholm to the Colorado Avalanche?

While the Avs are loaded with talents like Mikko Rantanen, Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar, beyond Mackinnon, they have a serious lack of centre depth, so making a move with that cap space they cleared is now seemingly a major priority.
Now, NHL Insiders are linking them to Calgary Flames star Elias Lindholm, who's salary this season just so happens to be the amount of cap space they cleared in the Tatar deal, making the connection an obvious one.

A major centre upgrade for Colorado in this move

As of right now, it doesn't appear as though there's been any significant traction in a deal, but with the Avalanche looking to make a push for their second Stanley Cup in three years, they could do a lot worse at their 2C.
In 31 games this season, Lindholm carries a -2 goal differential, but has posted a solid 7 goals and 20 point campaign playing with a lackluster forward group, and if the Avalanche can use some of their picks and prospects to pair him up with their talented forward unit, it could be the best move at the 2023-24 NHL trade deadline.
