Josh Morrissey Disrespected in Recent Projection
A recent projection believes that Josh Morrissey will regress to a player not even in Norris Consideration.
Morrissey's Monster 2022-23
Last season, Josh Morrissey exploded as a true number one defenseman. He scored 16 goals and had 76 points in a year that saw him finish 2nd in defensemen scoring. He was put up for Norris consideration and he wound up finishing 5th in the Norris race.
While Morrissey's offense was phenomenal, he maintained his top of the line defense and many Jets fans were pleased with this year from Morrissey.
However, many are predicting this to be the peak of Morrissey's career and they believe he will regress to an average number one defenseman.
The Disrespectful Projection
Recently, The Hockey News projected every player's fantasy value.
Their projection for Jets players was quite mindboggling.
The Hockey News Fantasy Guide Top 3 Point Projections:Kyle Connor, 82 points
Mark Scheifele, 75 points
Josh Morrissey, 60 points
60 points for Josh Morrissey is a massive step down. For reference, Morrissey had 60 assists alone last year. On top of this, Morrissey was ranked as the 135th best player for fantasy hockey next year in regular leagues and 95th in leagues that account for hits.
This seems quite low for Morrissey. While fantasy hockey is mainly built off points, a defenseman like Morrissey who just finished second in points should be ranked higher.
Only time will tell if Morrissey was actually placed to low but as of right now, it is looking like he is being slept on.
