The Jets may be moving on from Mark Scheifele but they could get his replacement when they trade him.

Scheifele's Value

It is no secret that Mark Scheifele is on the trade market. Many are wondering which way the Jets will want to go with their 42-goal scorer. Will they rebuild or retool?
Entering the final year of his contract, Scheifele going on the trade block will see many top contenders calling the Jets about him. However, if he is traded to a top contender, he will be traded for future assets.
Recently, a trade proposal that swaps him for a top center has emerged that keeps the Jets as a playoff team.

Mock Trade Emerges

This trade would net the Jets top Capitals center, Evgeny Kuznetsov. He struggled last season scoring only 55 points but has a point per game season back in 2021-22. It seems like a change of scenery would be necessary for Kuznetsov.
He is a different type of player than Scheifele. He is a playmaker with 386 career assists compared to 165 career goals. Scheifele on the other hand has 272 career goals compared to 373 career assists.
Playing alongside a player like Kyle Connor could do wonders for Kuznetsov as he would be the main playmaker in Winnipeg's system.
In addition to the Jets acquiring Kuznetsov, they also would move up to the third round trading only a 5th-round pick, and would also get Kuznetsov for just over $6 million, what they are currently paying Scheifele.
