The Winnipeg Jets have been on the edge between contending and starting a rebuild for a couple of seasons now.
This offseason has had the most rebuild talk with the team reportedly taking offers on both Mark Scheifele and Connor Hellebuyck. Now another star may be trying to work his way out of Winnipeg.
Ehlers Unhappy?
Nikolaj Ehlers has been one of the biggest bright spots for the Winnipeg Jets in recent seasons. He has been one of the Jets' top scorers each year since joining the team in 2015. Now there a rumblings that Ehlers is possibly unhappy with his situation in Winnipeg. There have been rumblings in the past of Ehlers not being happy in Winnipeg and not these seem to be resurfacing.
What To Do In Winnipeg?
With the Jets' lack of playoff success, they are at a crossroads. They have several generations of players all trying to make it work to win together. Players like Scheifele and Hellebuyck are getting later into their careers. While others like Nikolaj Ehlers and Pierre Luc Dubois are in their prime. Then, of course, there are the young guns headed up by Cole Perfetti.
The Jets will have to decide which group of players is their core. This will determine what their next move is. One thing is clear whoever they choose to go forward with they need to do it quickly.
