David Savard, a seasoned veteran blueliner, is back on the trade block, with the Winnipeg Jets reportedly interested in acquiring his services.

David Savard is in the last year of his four-year contract after winning the Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning against the Habs in 2021.
📝 DONE DEAL: Montreal Canadiens sign David Savard to four-year, $3.5M AAV contract.
Unfortunately, with Carey Price and Shea Weber sustaining career-ending injuries during the series, Savard has been on a cellar-dweller for the last three years. Now, the Canadiens are getting younger and remain in sell mode, which puts Savard as the odd man out even though he wants to stay.
David Savard today on his hopes to remain with the Habs past the trade deadline.
For the Jets, adding a defenseman like Savard could be a smart move. As a playoff team, they'd be better off getting a more NHL-ready defenseman for a deep run rather than relying on a depth player to step up.

With Savard on an expiring contract and no longer a fit, Montreal should look to get picks or a young prospect for him in any deal.
